AGI meets with GIADEC

Date: 2021-04-15

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, the AGI held discussions with a delegation from the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) on the activities and programmes of GIADEC, and areas of possible collaboration between the two organisations.

GIADEC was set up by the Government of Ghana with a mandate to develop and promote a globally competitive integrated aluminium industry in Ghana. This involves expanding existing operations in bauxite mining and aluminium smelting, as well as introducing alumina refining to the country.

Today's meeting forms part of GIADEC's stakeholder consultations being held to sensitize businesses and stakeholders on the operations of the corporation and also explore opportunities within the aluminium value chain.

The AGI and GIADEC have agreed to collaborate on a number of policy issues relating to the aluminium industry, through stakeholder dialogue sessions. Present at the meeting were AGI Vice President, Mr Humphrey-Ayim Darke, AGI CEO, Mr. Seth Twum-Akwaboah, Director of Policy, Mr John Defor and Director of Business Development Services, Mr Johnson Opoku Boateng.

The GIADEC delegation included Ms Karen Asafo-Adjaye, Director of Programme Management & IT, and Ms Kezia Kuleape, Project Manager.
