AGI President, Dr. Kwesi H. Ayim Darke and CEO Mr. Seth Twum-Akwaboah attended the Commissioning of the Electrochem Salt Mines and Processing Plant in Ada Sangor.
The plant was commissioned by the President of Ghana, HE Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and supported by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Minister for Greater Accra, Hon. Henry Quartey and the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Mr Wamkele Mene
The facility which is operated by Electrochem Ghana Limited, a parent company of Macdan Group, and a member of AGI is the largest in Africa and can produce about 1,000,000 metric tonnes (250 tonnes per hour) of salt per annum for local and export markets.
The facility is currently employing 3,000 individuals and will create an additional 3,000.
