AGI TEMA BRANCH ORGANIZES ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND SEMINAR ON TAXATION

The Tema Regional branch held its AGM at Hotel Joecarl on the 24th of October, 2024 under the theme “Navigating the uncertainties of our business landscape to sustain productivity.”

Dr. Eddie Akwetey, the Tema Regional Chair opened the meeting and expressed his gratitude to the executives and members present for the continuous support for programmes and events.

He stated that the past year has been challenging for industries due to several factors, including, Unstable and depreciating Ghana Cedi against foreign currency; Frequent utility and service price hikes; High import duties and port charges; Economic uncertainty, hindering companies’ ability to plan and project, nevertheless, he is optimistic that with the secretariat’s persistent engagement with government and policymakers, industry concerns would be addressed.

Mr Seth Twum-Akwaboah, CEO of the Association of Ghana Industries, revealed some of the initiatives and efforts of AGI’s leadership and Secretariat engaging policymakers to address policy issues to ensure a favourable business environment.

The key resource person to deliver a presentation on the seminar theme “The Withholding Tax Regime: Facilitating Compliance” was Mr. Joseph Asare, Area Director, Accra-East, Ghana Revenue Authority, Assistant Commissioner

Dignitaries in attendance included Mr Ralph Ayitey, the National Treasurer of the Association, Mr Nathaniel Drrcoopome, Director of Finance and Administration, Dr. Charles Atuahene, Financial Director at Crocodile Matchets.
