AGI Forged Strategic Partnership with McGill University for a Sustainable Agri-Food Future

The Director of the Sustainable Agri-Food Collaborative at McGill University, Mr. Pierre Brunache, paid a courtesy visit to AGI.

Mr Brunache was warmly hosted by the Chief Executive Officer of AGI, Mr Seth Twum-Akwaboah and the meeting focus was on the pivotal role international partnerships play in enhancing agricultural value chains and driving innovation within Ghana’s agri-food sector.

Key discussions centred around various topics including:

Strengthening Ghana’s Agri-Food Value Chains: The two parties explored methods to enhance productivity, improve market access, and promote sustainable agricultural practices, ensuring the sector’s long-term viability.

Leveraging Research & Innovation: One of the highlights was exploring how McGill University’s academic insights can assist in driving industry-led solutions aimed at boosting food security and agro-industrial development in Ghana.

Promoting Responsible Production & Consumption: The partnership also seeks to align efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12, focusing on sustainability throughout the entire agri-food system.

Fostering Investment & Capacity Building: A major objective of the collaboration is to create opportunities for Ghanaian businesses to scale up, attract investment, and build resilience against global challenges.

This partnership, bridging the gap between academia and industry, is expected to pave the way for practical solutions that will not only enhance industrial competitiveness but also ensure that Ghana’s agriculture and food systems become more sustainable, resilient, and globally competitive.

Also at the meeting were Mr Johnson Opoku Boateng and Mr Daniel Okyere of AGI
