The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Western/Central Regional Branch, led by Regional Chairman, Mr. J.C. Garbrah, visited Western Diamond Cement on Tuesday, 24th March 2026. This visit was part of AGI’s ongoing member engagement activities aimed at interacting with member companies, assessing business performance, understanding operational challenges, and identifying issues requiring policy advocacy and support.
The AGI delegation met with Western Diamond Cement’s management team, including Mr. S. Veera Reddy (General Manager), Mr. Foster Asare (Human Resource Manager), and other senior staff. Key issues discussed included:
– Unfair competition from companies underpaying taxes, affecting market share and pricing
– Decline in sales due to increased competition from low-priced imports
– Operational challenges, including a three-month machine breakdown impacting production and customer retention
– Industry expansion concerns, such as increased competition and environmental issues like dust pollution
Management noted signs of gradual improvement in sales despite past challenges. The AGI team toured the manufacturing site to gain insight into operations.
AGI acknowledged the concerns raised and will escalate issues related to tax compliance and market fairness for policy-level engagement. The Regional Branch reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for a fair and competitive business environment and supporting member growth.
Appreciation is extended to Mr. J.C. Garbrah and the team for a successful visit.
