AGI CEO Leads Ghanaian Businesses to the 8th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) in Chongqing

Members of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Seth Twum-Akwaboah, participated in the 88th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade held in Chongqing.

The event commenced with a high-level business forum attended by the Ghana Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, and brought together over one hundred Chinese investors, manufacturers, and business executives to explore opportunities for trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

Addressing participants at the forum, Mr. Twum-Akwaboah commended Chongqing for its remarkable transformation and strategic economic vision.

“As a representative of Ghana and the African industrial sector, I must commend Chongqing for its extraordinary achievements. What is most impressive is not only the scale of development, but the vision behind it.

He further highlighted Chongqing’s leadership in railway logistics innovation and cross-border trade facilitation, noting that the China-Europe Railway Express and the city’s pioneering digital trade and transport systems provide valuable lessons for emerging economies.

Mr. Twum-Akwaboah also emphasized Africa’s growing industrialisation agenda under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), noting that Ghana, as host of the AfCFTA Secretariat, is strategically positioned to serve as a gateway for trade and investment into Africa.

“Today, Africa is moving steadily toward industrialisation under the African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA. Ghana, as host of the AfCFTA Secretariat, is strategically positioned to become a gateway for trade and investment into Africa. However, unlocking the full potential of African trade requires innovative financing systems, efficient logistics, and trusted legal frameworks for international commerce,” he noted.

AGI member companies that participated in the expo included Taabea Group of Companies, Amanex Company Limited, Ribenth Hygenyk Company Limited, CBS Supreme Industries Limited, Delcielo Optical Services Limited, and Aypak Royaal Company.

As part of the exhibition, AGI secured a strategic exhibition space that enabled participating member companies to showcase a wide range of Made-in-Ghana products and industrial innovations to international investors and business partners.
