The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has officially launched the 15th AGI Industry and Quality Awards under the theme, “From Stability to Growth: Strategic Industrialisation as a Catalyst for Economic Transformation.”
Speaking at the launch, AGI President Dr Pharm Kofi Nsiah-Poku said recent improvements in Ghana’s macroeconomic indicators, including easing inflation, moderating exchange rate volatility and growing business confidence, present an opportunity for industries to drive the country’s next phase of economic transformation.
“Economic stability is not an end in itself; it is the foundation upon which sustainable growth must be built,” he said, adding that strategic industrialisation remains the surest path to productivity, value addition, export growth and job creation.
Chairperson of the AGI Awards Planning Committee, Dr Nora Bannerman-Abbott, reaffirmed that the awards process will remain transparent, fair and credible while acknowledging the invaluable support of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), government, sponsors, the media and participating companies.
She also announced that nominations are officially open and encouraged deserving companies nationwide to submit their entries.
Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority, Prof. George Agyei, highlighted the critical role of standards in improving product quality and strengthening the competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Michael Opoku, Head of Budget at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI), representing the Chief Director, reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Association of Ghana Industries and its initiatives. He commended AGI for consistently organising the Industry and Quality Awards over the years, describing the programme as an important platform for promoting industrial excellence, rewarding innovation and encouraging businesses to uphold high standards in the production of quality goods and the delivery of quality services.
“The Ministry remains committed to working closely with AGI to strengthen Ghana’s industrial sector. The Industry and Quality Awards continue to inspire businesses to pursue excellence, maintain high standards and enhance the competitiveness of Ghanaian industries both locally and internationally,” he said.
The launch marks the beginning of activities leading to the 15th AGI Industry and Quality Awards ceremony later this year.
