AGI Meets Economic and Commercial Counsellors Alliance to Strengthen Ghana-China Industrial Cooperation

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) welcomed the Economic and Commercial Counsellors Alliance to China on a courtesy visit aimed at exploring opportunities for deeper Ghana-China collaboration in technology, knowledge transfer, investment and industrial development.

The delegation was received by the immediate past President of AGI, Dr. Humphery Kwesi Ayim Darke, the Director of Membership, Mr. Steven Owusu, and other representatives of the Association.

Discussions focused on practical opportunities for Chinese companies to partner with Ghanaian businesses and contribute to the country’s industrial transformation. Areas identified included electric vehicles (EVs), motorcycles and tricycles, transformers, electronics, renewable energy, agriculture and smart agriculture.

The Chinese delegation expressed interest in establishing partnerships that could support local assembly and manufacturing in Ghana, including potential collaborations in transformer production and EV assembly. They also explored opportunities to bring together Chinese companies to invest in large-scale agricultural and agro-processing projects, with potential export opportunities.

AGI highlighted its role as a platform for connecting credible Chinese investors and technology providers with Ghanaian businesses, while facilitating access to local industry networks and relevant stakeholders.

The engagement underscored the importance of building strong partnerships based on trust, knowledge exchange and technology transfer. Both sides expressed interest in deepening discussions and exploring the development of an MoU to guide future areas of cooperation.
