The AGI Tema Chapter has paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Ningo-Prampram Municipal Assembly, Hon. Raphael Uriel Nartey, to strengthen relations and explore opportunities for collaboration between the Assembly and businesses within the municipality.
The engagement focused on deepening industry-government relations, addressing concerns affecting businesses in the industrial enclave, improving communication and exploring opportunities to support industrial development and employment.
AGI Tema Regional Chair, Dr Eddie Akwetey, said the visit was necessary to build on AGI’s relationship with the previous administration and establish a stronger working relationship with the new administration.
“AGI is always ready to support the Assembly. Whenever there are concerns between the Municipal Assembly and companies in the district, the Assembly should not hesitate to engage us.”
The DCE welcomed the engagement, describing it as a step in the right direction. He noted that closer collaboration with AGI would provide the Assembly with valuable insights into companies operating in the municipality and could help create employment opportunities for young people.
“Working with AGI will be immensely beneficial because of the Association’s considerable insight into the affairs of companies and industry in the district.”
Hon. Nartey also disclosed that more companies were emerging in the municipality, making stronger engagement with AGI and the business community strategically important.
AGI Executive Member and AGI Tema Vice-Chairperson, Madam Adobea Asiama-Aboakye, highlighted the importance of data sharing between AGI and the Assembly. She noted that accurate information on businesses would help address challenges arising from the wrong categorisation of businesses, particularly in relation to taxation, and support smoother revenue collection.
