Accra and Tema Regional branches of AGI embark on an Industrial Excursion to Electrochem Salt Mines site at Ada Sangor

The trip was led by the Accra Regional Chair Mr. Tsonam Akpeloo and accompanied by 60 members from Accea and Tena and about 13 reporters from 6 media houses.

The salt factory is managed and operated by Electrochem Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Macdan group and is located in Songor Ada is one of the largest mines in Africa. The company has secured a concession of 41,000 acres to produce 1,000,000 metric tons of salt per annum to supply to local and export markets. In the medium term, the output will be increased substantially and part of it used to feed a chlor-alkali plant for the production of caustic soda and other chemical products.

The Chairman of Macdan Group, Dr Daniel McKorley hosted the event together with the CEO of Macdan, Kweku Ampromfi, and the CEO of Electrochem Ghana Limited, Mr Abdul Razak Adam.
