The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has hosted a UK business delegation led by Madam Adjoba Kyiamah, Executive Director of the UK Ghana Chamber of Commerce, to explore business opportunities, investment, and strategic partnerships with Ghanaian businesses.
Welcoming the delegation, AGI Accra Regional Chairman, Mr Tsonam Akpeloo, provided an overview of AGI’s history, membership and operations, noting that the Association has evolved beyond its original manufacturing focus to represent businesses across major sectors of the economy, including services and technology.
Mr Akpeloo also highlighted AGI’s role in policy advocacy, including its engagement with government on the national budget and business-related policies, as well as its representation on government boards, university structures and other institutions.
Discussions focused on infrastructure, agribusiness, construction, energy and financing, with the UK delegation expressing interest in supporting private-sector and selected public-sector projects through various financing arrangements.
The meeting also addressed regulatory compliance, local participation and measures to check substandard and improperly classified imports with participants stressing the importance of understanding Ghana’s regulatory and business environment.
AGI facilitated further engagement by sharing the delegation’s areas of interest with its membership, supporting the identification of suitable Ghanaian businesses for potential partnerships.
Other dignitaries present included Mr Ralph Ayitey, CEO of Coconut Grove Hotels; Mr William Agyei Manu, AGI Agribusiness Sector Chair; and Lawyer Kwame Jantua, AGI Energy Sector Chairperson.
The engagement represents another step towards strengthening Ghana–UK business relations and creating practical opportunities for trade, investment and industrial collaboration.
