The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) recently embarked on a strategic courtesy visit to the headquarters of Sunda International, a leading multinational manufacturer with a significant footprint in Ghana.
The AGI delegation, led by President Dr. Humphrey Kwesi Ayim Darke, included Mr. Eric Defor, Chairman of the Construction Sector and Managing Director of E-Pac Flexible Packaging, and Mr. Victor Sosgh. The team was warmly received by Sunda International’s top management—Mr. Michael Yen, Mr. Jackie, and Madam Julian.
The engagement served as a valuable platform for meaningful dialogue on Ghana’s industrialization drive, focusing on deepening collaboration between the private sector and government to enhance local production capacity. Sunda International shared its remarkable two-decade journey on the continent, emphasizing its evolution from a trading entity to a major industrial force, with Ghana hosting its largest operations to date.
With an investment exceeding $240 million and a Ghanaian workforce of over 3,700, Sunda International has become a cornerstone of local manufacturing. The company’s portfolio spans key sectors, including the production of diapers, sanitary pads, washing powder, and steel products. Dr. Ayim Darke commended Sunda’s long-term commitment to the Ghanaian economy, citing its role in driving innovation, creating jobs, and adding value across multiple industries.
The AGI delegation also discussed advocacy efforts aimed at curbing substandard imports and promoting tariff reforms to protect critical local industries. This aligns with AGI’s broader mission to engage directly with industry leaders, gain insight into their operational challenges, and collaboratively develop solutions that promote sustainable industrial growth in Ghana and the wider ECOWAS region.
AGI remains steadfast in championing the voice of Ghana’s industrial sector and building partnerships that contribute meaningfully to national economic development.
