AGI Signs MoU with Confederation of Industry of Czech Republic

As part of the official visit to Ghana by His Excellency, Petr Fiala, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic in collaboration with the Association of Ghana (AGI) held the Ghana-Czech Business Forum to strengthen the business relations and trade ties between the two countries.

Gracing the occasion were dignitaries from both countries including the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ghana, Jan Fury, the Minister of Roads and Highways Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, Jan Rafaj, and the President of AGI, Dr Kwesi H. Ayim Darke.

In his address, His Excellency, Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic remarked that Ghana is one of the five most important trading partners of the Czech Republic in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He said, “We see Ghana as a pillar of stability in this otherwise turbulent region and together with our Czech companies, we are committed to Ghana’s economic and security development.”

AGI President, Dr Kwesi H. Ayim Darke highlighted that bilateral relations between Ghana and the Czech Republic date back to the sixties. He acknowledged the enormous contributions of the Czech Republic to Ghana’s socio-economic development.

He noted that the cooperation arrangement by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic has come at the right time when the industry is trying to link up with global partners to take advantage of the AfCFTA initiative.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by the presidents of both industry associations to foster business linkages and connections of mutual business cooperation between the two nations.

Some Czech companies present were mainly in the sectors of agri-business, medical equipment, transport, mining industry, ammunition, and construction.
