The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Energy Service Centre, in partnership with Swisscontact, has launched the BisaConnect, Ghana’s first inclusive solar e-marketplace and renewable energy investment-readiness platform.
The platform was unveiled at the Future of Energy Conference at Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme, “Unlocking Investment Pathways for Sustainable Energy Solutions in Africa.”
BISA Connect is designed to bridge critical gaps in Ghana’s renewable energy ecosystem by connecting businesses with credible solar consultants, qualified service providers and financial institutions. It seeks to make the transition to renewable energy easier by supporting businesses with feasibility studies, project development, service-provider selection and access to financing.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Seth Twum-Akwaboah, CEO of AGI, highlighted the growing cost of energy as a major challenge for businesses and emphasized the importance of providing industries with practical alternatives. He noted that BISA Connect will help businesses “ask and get connected” to the right consultants, service providers and financing opportunities to support their transition to solar energy.
Mr. Kofi Anim Ayeko, Manager, Renewable Energy, Swisscontact, stressed that BISA Connect was developed to address information gaps, limited trust in assessments, difficulty identifying credible service providers and challenges in accessing suitable financing. He described the platform as more than a digital marketplace, but a mechanism for improving collaboration, transparency and investment readiness within the renewable energy ecosystem.
Representing the Energy Commission, Mr. Julius Nkansah-Nyarko, Deputy Director, Renewable Energy, underscored that Ghana’s renewable energy potential must be organised, regulated, financed and converted into tangible investments. He commended AGI and its partners for the initiative, noting that BISA Connect can help connect businesses to credible renewable energy solutions, technical expertise and financing pathways.
The launch was followed by a panel discussion featuring energy and finance experts, including Ing. Samuel Kofi Kyei-Boateng, Mr Kweku Osei- Sarpong, Mr Ishmael Edjekumhene and Mr Stephen Andoh, moderated by Afefa Mireille Akoumany. The discussion explored practical approaches to overcoming financing and investment barriers in the renewable energy sector.
BISA Connect represents a significant step towards a more connected, transparent and investment-ready renewable energy ecosystem in Ghana helping businesses ask, connect and move towards sustainable energy solutions.
