The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Tema Regional Office has engaged the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) as part of stakeholder consultations towards the 2027 Business Operations Permit, Property Rates and Industrial Development plan.
Led by Regional Chairman, Dr. Eddie Akwetey, the AGI delegation included Executive Member, Ms. Dora Oppong-Kyei; Tema Regional Manager, Ms. Veronica Darkoa-Asiedu; Senior Accounts Manager, Mr. Fred Tenkorang; and Senior Manager, Public and International Relations, Mr. Humphrey Jojo Quayson.
The team was received by Chief Aid, Dr. Richard Fiadomor, together with Revenue Head, Mr. David Queye; Revenue Supervisor, Mr. Sylvester Amudzu; Snr. Budget Analyst, Ms. Erica B. Ussher, and other Budget Analysts.
Discussions focused on the proposed 2027 fees, with TMA indicating that the Business Operating Permit (BOP) fee is expected to remain at the 2026 level. However, property rates may change following the ongoing revaluation of properties by the Lands Valuation Division of the Lands Commission. Discussions also touched on possible adjustments to sewage and signage-related fees, subject to approval by the General Assembly.
Beyond fee-fixing, the meeting provided an important platform to address challenges affecting businesses in the Tema industrial enclave, particularly poor road infrastructure, property valuation, truck parking, revenue compliance, data sharing, and stronger collaboration between AGI and TMA.
Both institutions expressed a commitment to deeper engagement, including bringing industry stakeholders together to improve understanding of the fee-setting process, strengthen compliance and explore collaborative approaches to improving industrial roads and the business environment.
AGI remains committed to working with local authorities and other stakeholders to create an enabling environment where businesses can operate, grow and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s industrial development.
