The leadership of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Tema Region, led by Regional Chairman Dr. Eddie Akwetey, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Managing Director of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), Mr. Courage Kweku Makafui Nunekpeku.
The delegation included Vice Chair Madam Adobea Asiama-Aboagye, Regional Treasurer Dr. Charles Atuahene, Mr. William Darko of Riepco Engineering Ltd., Madam Veronica (Tema Regional Manager), and Mr. Humphrey Jojo Quayson, Senior Public and International Relations Manager.
The AGI delegation was warmly received by Mr Nunekpeku and Madam Dorothy, Head of Corporate Planning and Communication at the TDC office in Tema.
The visit offered both parties a chance to initiate a partnership and explore strategic areas of collaboration. AGI emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement, smooth processing of permits, and addressing concerns such as ground rent administration, industrial area sanitation, and infrastructure challenges – particularly in the heavy industrial zones from the VALCO roundabout to the TOR enclave.
Dr. Akwetey extended AGI’s readiness to serve as a liaison between industry players and regulatory bodies like TDC, noting that collaboration will ease compliance, improve service delivery, and ultimately enhance the business environment.
The Vice Chair, Adobea Asiama-Aboagye, also suggested future engagements where TDC can meet with AGI members at quarterly industry meetings, to clarify mandates and streamline communication.
Mr. Nunekpeku, in his remarks, expressed appreciation for the visit and assured AGI of his commitment to resetting and strengthening TDC’s stakeholder relations. He highlighted TDC’s mandate of land management and service delivery across multiple constituencies in the Tema enclave and welcomed the call for stakeholder workshops to address critical ageings such as Tema’s ageing sewage systems.
The visit concluded with mutual expressions of optimism for deeper collaboration, with AGI inviting TDC to join its membership and benefit from advocacy, visibility, and networking opportunities.
