AGI LAUNCHES 14TH GHANA INDUSTRY AND QUALITY AWARDS
The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has officially launched its 14th Industry and Quality Awards at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra. The launch, held under the theme “Accessing New Markets through Improved Quality Standards to Drive Business Growth and Job Creation,” brought together key stakeholders in Ghana’s industrial sector.
Chairperson of the Awards Planning Committee, Dr. Nora Bannerman-Abbott, welcomed guests and emphasized the importance of quality standards in driving business growth and job creation. She noted that the awards have grown into a platform that promotes competitiveness, showcases world-class standards, and champions the industrial spirit of Ghana.
Representing the Hon. Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Madam Cynthia Dzokoto, Director for SMEs, at the Ministry emphasized that the theme of the launch was both timely and strategic because it aligns with Government’s overarching goal of transforming Ghana’s production and trade landscape, particularly through flagship initiatives like the 24-Hour Economy and Export Acceleration.
She also mentioned that government’s 24hour economy is intended to achieve inclusive growth by focusing on export competitiveness and value-added production rather than raw commodity dependence.
Dr. Prince Kofi Kludjeson, a past president of AGI, delivered an address on behalf of the AGI President, Dr. Humphrey Ayim-Darke. He commended the Association for its consistent efforts in recognizing excellence within Ghana’s industrial landscape. Dr. Kludjeson emphasized the need for Ghanaian businesses to prioritize standards, quality assurance, and innovation to remain competitive in the global market.
The launch ceremony concluded on a high note with a special recognition of the AGI’s loyal major sponsors. Eleven distinguished companies – Olam Agri Limited, GOIL, Activa International Insurance, GCB Bank Plc, B5 Plus Limited, Ghana Gas Company, Softcare Fm Manufacturing Ltd, Ghacem, Latex Foam, and Coca-Cola Bottling Company, as well as Promasidor Ghana Ltd – were honored with certificates of appreciation for their unwavering support.
