Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic Pays a Working Visit to AGI

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, a high-level business delegation from the Czech Republic, led by Radek Spicar, Vice-President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic (SPCR), accompanied by Beata Matusikova, Economic Trade and Counsellor at the Czech Embassy, paid a working visit to the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) as part of the Czech Republic President’s official visit to Ghana.

The main purpose of the visit was to foster industrial collaboration between the SPCR and AGI, with a focus on exploring new avenues for business partnerships and investment opportunities.

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Humphrey Kwesi Ayim Darke, President of AGI, and key members of the AGI Council. During the meeting, Dr. Darke highlighted AGI’s eagerness to implement the proposals signed last two years with SPCR, which include initiating advocacy, knowledge sharing, technology transfer, industrial exchanges, as well as both inbound and outbound business missions. These efforts aim to deepen economic cooperation and drive industrial growth in both countries.

Dr. Darke further emphasized that both Ghana and the Czech Republic have significant opportunities to collaborate in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, food, technology, healthcare, and education, aligning with Ghana’s broader development agenda.

Mr Spicar expressed the Czech Republic’s commitment to doing business in Ghana and underscored that the visit was part of the Czech President’s efforts to deepen business cooperation between the two nations. He also revealed that the delegation included representatives from 15 companies spanning various sectors, and he encouraged the initiation of business-to-business meetings to explore investment opportunities, strategic alliances, and partnerships.

The meeting was attended by key prominent members of AGI, including Mr. Seth Twum-Akwaboah, CEO of AGI, Mr Ralph Ayitey, National Treasurer of AGI, Mr Eric Defor, Chair of the Construction Sector of AGI, Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, Chair of the Energy Sector of AGI, Mr Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo, Accra Regional Chair of AGI, Mr Dela Gadzanku, Chair for the Volta, Eastern, and Oti regions of AGI, and Miss Maria, Executive Member for the Garment, Textiles, and Leather Sector of AGI.

This visit marks a significant step towards enhancing the industrial and economic ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic.
