AGI Western/Central Regional Branch Visits Saltpond Packaging & Kraft Works and GILLCO Roofing Systems

On Tuesday, 24th February 2026, the Western/Central Regional Branch of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), led by the Regional Chairman, Mr. Joseph Cantamanto Garbrah, and the Regional Treasurer, Mrs. Lilian Sowah Nannor, supported by the Secretariat, undertook working visits to Saltpond Packaging & Kraft Works and GILLCO Roofing Systems in the Central Region.

The visits formed part of AGI’s routine engagement with member companies to assess business performance, understand operational concerns, and identify areas requiring advocacy and institutional support.

Visit to Saltpond Packaging and Kraft Works

The AGI delegation was received by the management team of Saltpond Packaging and Kraft Works.
The engagement session was attended by:

• Mr. Louis Appiah – Sales Manager
• Mr. Huan Deping – Production Manager

Key issues raised:
• Foreign currency access & high raw material costs
• Labour shortages affecting production
• Post-clearing customs audit adjustments
• Need for clearer tax administration & VAT processes

Visit to GILLCO Roofing Systems

The AGI delegation was warmly received by the leadership of GILLCO Roofing Systems.
The meeting was attended by:
• Mrs. Vida Addy – Director
• Mr. David Addy – Management Representative

Key issues raised:
• Exchange rate pressures & pricing challenges
• VAT administration changes causing uncertainty
• Tough regional competition
• Labour challenges & workforce stability

Both companies demonstrated resilience and commitment to maintaining quality and sustaining operations despite economic pressures. The concerns raised—particularly on foreign exchange, VAT, customs audits, labour, and competition—will require continued advocacy and engagement.
