AGI CEO, Seth Twum-Akwaboah, congratulated Zonda Tech on the successful unveiling of the Chery brand vehicles in Ghana and expressed his delight at the fact that the vehicles will be assembled locally. According to him, the decision to assemble the cars in Ghana will create employment opportunities and significantly contribute to the country’s industrial growth.
The official launch, held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Zonda Tech showroom in Dzorwulu, marked the introduction of a range of Chery sport utility vehicles (SUVs) onto the Ghanaian market. The event attracted industry stakeholders, business leaders, and automobile enthusiasts eager to witness the debut of the globally recognized brand under Zonda Tech.
The new lineup includes the flagship Tiggo 9, the seven-seater Tiggo 8 Pro Max, and the Tiggo 2 Pro Max, each designed to meet the evolving needs of Ghanaian consumers. The ceremony also showcased Chery’s electric vehicle (EV) models, signaling the company’s readiness to embrace sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility solutions in Ghana.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Twum-Akwaboah emphasized that local assembly of the vehicles aligns strongly with the government’s 24-hour economy agenda, which seeks to stimulate production, encourage investment, and create more jobs for the youth. He noted that increased industrial activity—particularly in the manufacturing and automotive sectors—has the potential to drive continuous economic growth.
“When companies choose to assemble in Ghana, they create jobs directly and indirectly. This supports our broader agenda of expanding employment opportunities and strengthening the economy,” he said. He added that industry players must work together to build an enabling business environment that attracts investors and encourages manufacturing operations to flourish.
The AGI CEO further stressed the importance of supportive policies in the manufacturing sector, stating that the right regulatory and business framework would encourage more global brands to establish assembly plants in the country. According to him, such initiatives will not only enhance local capacity but also improve skills development and technology transfer.
He commended Zonda Tech for its vision and commitment to contributing to Ghana’s industrial transformation. By introducing both conventional SUVs and electric vehicles, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of innovation in the automotive industry.
Zonda Tech officials expressed appreciation for the support from AGI and other stakeholders, reaffirming their commitment to delivering quality vehicles while investing in local talent and infrastructure.
The launch of the Chery brand represents a significant milestone for Ghana’s automotive sector. With the introduction of advanced SUV models and EV options, coupled with plans for local assembly, the initiative is expected to boost employment, stimulate investment, and strengthen the country’s drive toward a more robust 24-hour economy
